Kenwood Connections: Lord Mansfield and the Abolition of the Transatlantic Slave Trade at Kenwood

In this workshop, students learn about the purpose, form and content of portraits and self-portraits as well as the powerful use of symbolism. Students dress up in costumes to recreate a painting, look at the work of Rembrandt, Reynolds and other renowned masters and analyse the techniques used by artists to show character and tell a story, before using what they’ve learnt to create their own self-portraits.
