In September 1291 in Hereford, Laurence of Ludlow was granted a licence to strengthen his house at Stokesay in Shropshire. Over 700 years since the creation of this document, Stokesay Castle stands today as a uniquely preserved late 13th century aristocratic residence. Join Will Wyeth, Curator of History, on a tour around Stokesay, weaving together the story of Laurence’s life and the development of the castle and its landscape. It will provide a chance to explore the castle’s new scheme of interpretation as well as explore the finer architectural and historical details of this fabulous property.
