Members Day at Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings

English Heritage Members are invited to discover the remarkable story of Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings, an icon of the Industrial Revolution.

Join us this November and December for a series of fascinating talks and tours exploring the people, innovations and events that shaped one of Britain's most pioneering buildings. Hear how visionary engineers created the world's first iron-framed building, discover the everyday lives of the workers who kept the mill running, and uncover the site's unexpected wartime history.

Each session offers a different perspective on the building known as the grandfather of the skyscraper, bringing its past to life through memorable characters and captivating local stories.

There are two different talks or tours on each date, and members are welcome to book one session or enjoy a full day by booking both.
